Happy #MerchMonday! I’ve had a bit of a break the last couple of weeks, but as it’s August bank holiday, I of course couldn’t not wear a Reading Festival shirt for this post.
If you’ve grown up in the UK and are into your music, chances are you’ve been to Reading or Leeds Festival at one point over the years. I grew up in a town close to Reading, so it was a big part of my teenage years – having gone every year since I was sixteen, for over 12 years. Music being such a big influence for me during this time meant it soon became the social highlight of my summers. Not just for the live music, but also the experience of having a weekend with friends… Exploring and meeting people, drinking around a campfire listening to music. Wearing this shirt brings back a lot of fun memories. This one in particular is a throwback to 2005 which was my first year there. Funnily enough the Foo Fighters actually closed out the festival again last night, 14 years later.
Looking back on this today and remembering my first visit to Richfield Avenue has been a huge dose of nostalgia. Sadly I haven’t been able to make it down the last couple of years, but watching back highlights now of everyone having fun in the sunshine I can’t help but feel a little jealous. But on the bright side, at least I’ve not got sunburnt this weekend.
